Adam Łopatka (1928 - 2003)

Professor of legal sciences, expert in the field of the theory of state and law. Professor of the Institute of Legal Studies in the Polish Academy of Sciences and of the Lazarski School of Commerce and Law. In 1980 he was granted a  honoris causa doctorate of the University of Florida (USA) and in 1988 he received the United Nations Prize for the outstanding achievements in the domain of human rights. Professor Łopatka was the head of the Institute of Legal Studies in the Polish Academy of Sciences (1969 - 1987), the President of the Supreme Court (1987 - 1990) and the representative of Poland in the UN Human Rights Commission (1978 - 1983). He wrote numerous of books and about 400 articles.
